Best Celebrity Watch Sightings of 2025 So Far
We’re approaching the three-quarter mark in the year and a good proportion of 2025’s biggest events are already behind us.
Movie lovers got to experience the star-studded thespian-fest of the Oscars and Cannes Film Festival. The Grammys showed us the very best of the music industry. The Super Bowl and Wimbledon have both been played and won. And whatever the hell the Met Gala is was gala’d and gone by May.
But while that gives us a wide-ranging and diverse spread of revelries, one thing they all share is a generous helping of glitz and glamour as the world’s most famous celebrities pour their munificence down from on high. Whether in the audience or competing for one of the top prizes, the great and the good congregate on the most important festivities and are never seen in the same outfit twice.
For the likes of us, that is a great opportunity to indulge in a little watch spotting. What sort of wrist attire are the best-dressed sporting this year? Let’s find out.
The Oscars
The 97th Academy Awards swung into town in March this year and, as always, the industry’s finest swung in with it.
Always an exhibition hall for all things sartorial, the timepieces on display were a masterclass in balance—there was understatement and flamboyance, heritage and hype in equal measure.
Michelle Yeoh: The ‘Wicked’ star presented the Best Actress award clad in a striking blue custom Balenciaga gown and wearing a stunning Richard Mille RM 07-01 ‘Snow Set’. The piece comes with more than 800 diamonds set into its traditional tonneau-shaped case and wonderful open link bracelet.
Andrew Garfield: At the other extreme, two-time nominee, Andrew Garfield displayed his impeccable taste and a thoroughly vintage vibe with his Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Calendar, pairing the beautifully restrained model with an all-brown tuxedo ensemble.
The Cannes Film Festival
A more European, old-world sort of glamour was on display on the French Riviera as the Cannes Film Festival took place in May. Less an awards show than it is a cultural event, we were treated to a more eclectic variety of watches.
A$AP Rocky: Harlem’s favorite son; rapper, singer, songwriter, producer and fashion icon, A$AP Rocky managed to stand out even among the stellar company of Cannes with his Bvlgari Monete Catene High Jewelry secret watch. Actually part of the brand’s ladies collection, the rose gold model has a dial hidden behind a 2,000 year-old Roman silver coin of Emperor Caracalla.
Tahar Rahim: The French actor has been featured in a number of Louis Vuitton advertising campaigns in recent years and rocked up to Cannes head to toe in the designer label. That extended to his watch too—the Louis Vuitton Tambour Taiko Spin Time, an innovative design which displays the hours by way of rotating cubes.
The Grammy Awards
The music industry’s Oscars, the Grammy Awards are a glittering celebration of recording artistry. A place where music, fashion and celebrity collide, this year, as with every year, we saw some incredible timepieces.
Jay-Z: Cultural icon and one half of music’s most formidable power couple, Jay-Z got to watch wife Beyonce walk off with this year’s Best Album award—incredibly her 35th Grammy.
Such an auspicious occasion demands a special watch, and Jay-Z’s stunning Patek Philippe Grand Complications Minute Repeater ref. 5304, fit the bill perfectly. The rose gold masterpiece, with its fully openworked dial, is finished with 80 factory-set, baguette-cut diamonds in the bezel, lugs and clasp.
Will Smith: Attending his first awards show since…well, ya know, Will Smith was on hand at this year’s Grammy’s to present a tribute to the late producer, Quincy Jones.
But while his presence may have been controversial, there was no faulting his wrist game. Opting for some true retro sophistication, Smith wore a 1950s Universal Genève Polerouter S 20217-5 borrowed from vintage watch dealing legend Eric Wind of Wind Vintage. The wonderfully minimalist piece was made extra special by its double-signed dial by Havana-based retailer, Joyeria Milos.
Super Bowl LIX
The 59th annual football showcase saw the Philadelphia Eagles thrash the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22. Away from the field though, there were some spectacular watches on display.
Tom Brady: Arguably the greatest to ever play, Tom Brady surprised everyone by turning up wearing a watch with enough bling to overshadow even his incredible achievements. The Jacob & Co. Caviar Tourbillon Yellow Sapphires is a $740,000, 44mm model limited to just 18 pieces, incorporating a rose gold case set with 224 and a dial with 130 brilliant-cut yellow sapphires. A further 338 diamonds are applied to the movement and the whole watch is designed to resemble the opening of a tin of caviar.
Pete Davidson: The comedian and noted Eagles fan had a great night. He got to watch his team romp to victory while wearing a nicely paired down Rolex Day-Date ref. 228239, a 40mm yellow gold example with a bright white dial.
Wimbledon
The tennis world’s most prestigious tournament has long been a showcase for both elite players and luxury horology. And while the famously strict dress code officially only applies to those on the court, the grandstands are typically home to some of the best-dressed folk in the whole of SW19.
David Beckham: The quintessential English footballer is a fixture at the championships and never fails to turn heads with his well-tailored elegance. This year he fulfilled his ambassador duties in a big way with a unique and bespoke Tudor Black Bay Chrono, fully iced out with factory diamonds on the case, lugs and bracelet.
Roger Federer: The sport’s absolute GOAT, Federer was also at the event this year and he too had Testimonee obligations to perform—although not particularly onerous ones.
The long-time Rolex ambassador was spotted in the Royal Box with the Crown’s latest release on his wrist. Federer’s Land-Dweller 40 ref. 127334 is an Oystersteel and white gold model, featuring a white honeycomb dial and comes complete with Rolex’s first ever Flat Jubilee integrated bracelet.
The Met Gala
Always spectacularly over-the-top, the Met Gala, or the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala, is the single most important fashion event every year.
2025’s theme, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, was a pulsating celebration of black history and culture, attracting the cream of the industry’s designers and models, rubbing shoulders with A-list celebs, athletes and even the odd politician.
As you might expect, the watches on display were a level apart too.
Shaboozey: The Nigerian-American hip-hop/country phenomenon leant hard into the turquoise trend for this year. His yellow gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ref. 15550BA came with a fabulous turquoise dial, reflected not only on strings of beads adorning the performer’s outfit but also on a set of turquoise veneers on his teeth.
Colman Domingo: the multi-faceted actor, director, playwright and producer has become one of the entertainment industry’s most prominent figures in recent years. And, proving that sort of recognition pays dividends, Domingo wore an as-yet unreleased Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional in Moonshine Gold.
A proprietary alloy, Moonshine is a blend of gold, palladium and silver, giving a paler, slightly warmer tone than traditional 18k yellow gold. Coupled with a black dial and white sub dials, the watch was an ideal complement to Domingo’s black and white windowpane blazer.
Omega have not released any details on when or if the watch will become part of their main collection, but it would be a good idea to keep an eye out for official statements in the coming months.
